THANK YOU FOR THE HARVEST FESTIVAL GIFTS …   As you know we are supporting ‘Nightwatch’ and ‘Purley Food Hub‘.  If you could help to deliver the goods that would be marvellous.  Those for Nightwatch have to be taken to Croydon between 7.30 & 10.30 pm on a Sunday evening in October.  Items for the Food Hub need to be delivered to Purley United Reformed Church between 9.00 a.m. & 2.00 p.m. Monday to Saturday.  If you could help with either of these please contact the Parish Office – 01737 552461 or at
Just a reminder that there is a large wooden chest just inside the main door of the church where items for the Food Hub can be left at any time.  At present they are particularly in need of:  ■ Long life fruit juice or squash  ■ Tinned and dried potatoes  ■ Long life whole milk  ■ Tinned ready meat meals  ■ Tins of dessert rice pudding  ■ Hot chocolate requiring only water  ■ Small bags of sugar  ■ Jars of pasta sauce  ■ Meat and fish paste  ■ Shower gel  ■ Shampoo  ■ Washing up liquid.
MESSY CHURCH IS STILL LOOKING FOR Help to set up!   We have been so grateful in having a man help us to get the 5-6 tables and approx. 40 grey chairs out each week at about 2.00 p.m. on 'Messy Church’ days – each Tuesday afternoon in school term time.  Unfortunately he is unable to do it this year.  Are there one or two people free late Tuesday mornings or around lunchtime who could assist?  It doesn’t take long, but makes a world of difference to our work load.  Please contact Christine McCutchion. 01737 553681 if you think you might be able to help us.
LAST CALL FOR The Alpha Course!   The course started last Thursday in The Rectory and will run every Thursday evening until December 7th, with a day away on Saturday 4th November.  It’s not too late if you would like to join us this Thursday.  The evening begins at 7.30 p.m. with a meal, then we watch a video on some aspect of Christianity, and the rest of the evening is a time of discussion on what we have watched.  If you would like to take part in the course, let me know this morning or just drop me a line or phone me: (01737 552152).  You can also find out more about Alpha on the Course website:      Paul
Traidcraft   Thank you for last month’s orders which, together with some from outside, came to over £200!  Promptly sent in, all came by the next Sunday, so it looks as if our ordering direct is viable.  We will be in church to take this month’s orders today.  For the following month please take a catalogue to order needs, gifts and Christmas cards by Sunday, 5th November.  You can ring us with any orders or leave a completed order form in the church letter rack for us.  Thank you.             David and Sheila Henwood   01737 553410
